Chromeo

Chromeo is a Canadian electrofunk duo formed in Montreal, composed of Dave 1 (David Macklovitch) on guitar and lead vocals and P-Thugg (Patrick Gemayel) on bass, keyboards, synthesizers and talk box. The two are childhood friends who jokingly describe themselves as an unlikely cultural pairing, and their music revives the sound of 1980s funk and boogie through a modern, ironic pop lens.

The duo's sound is built around slap-bass grooves, vocoder and talk-box effects, retro synthesizers, and a playful, tongue-in-cheek approach to lyrics about romance and nightlife, drawing clear inspiration from artists like Hall & Oates and early electro-funk. Songs such as «Fancy Footwork» and «Jealous (I Ain't With It)» became signature tracks that helped define the nu-disco and electrofunk revival of the 2000s and 2010s.

Chromeo has built a reputation for energetic live shows and a distinct visual identity that pairs with their retro-futuristic sound.
