Чиж и Ко (Chizh & Co)

Chizh & Co is a Russian rock band formed in the early 1990s in Saint Petersburg by singer, guitarist and songwriter Sergei Chigrakov, known by his nickname Chizh. The group emerged during a fertile period for Russian rock and quickly became known for a warm, melodic style that blended blues-rock and roots influences with distinctly Russian lyricism, setting it apart from the harder-edged bands of the same scene.

Over the 1990s the band released a string of albums that became staples of Russian rock, built around Chigrakov's expressive voice, harmonica and guitar work, and songs that moved easily between romantic tenderness and wry, streetwise observation. Tracks such as «О любви», «Эрогенная зона» and «Вечная молодость» became widely known and are still closely associated with the band decades later.

After a long hiatus from new studio material, Chizh & Co announced a comeback album in 2019, their first in about twenty years, reaffirming the group's lasting presence in Russian rock. The band continues to perform, with Chigrakov remaining its constant creative core alongside longtime bandmates.
