Chat Pile

Chat Pile is an American noise rock band from Oklahoma City, formed in 2019, known for combining crushing, sludge-adjacent riffs with harrowing, confrontational lyrics about American social decay, homelessness, addiction, and violence. The band consists of vocalist Raygun Busch, guitarist Luther Manhole, bassist Stin, and drummer Cap'n Ron, all performing under pseudonyms.

Their debut album God's Country drew widespread critical acclaim for tracks like «Why» and «Grimace Smoking Weed», which paired abrasive, industrial-tinged instrumentation with Busch's raw, screamed vocal delivery. The follow-up, Cool World, continued this trajectory, cementing the band's reputation as one of the most talked-about heavy underground acts of the early 2020s.

Often associated with the sludge metal tag despite describing themselves as noise rock, Chat Pile stands out for grounding extreme, dissonant music in vivid, specific storytelling about poverty and despair in the American Midwest, giving their sound a documentary-like emotional weight rare in heavy music.
