About the artist
Chad Kroeger is a Canadian musician, songwriter and producer best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of Nickelback, the rock band he formed in Hanna, Alberta in the mid-1990s. Nickelback became one of the best-selling rock acts of the 2000s on the strength of radio staples like «How You Remind Me» and «Photograph», with Kroeger writing or co-writing most of the band's catalogue.
Beyond Nickelback, Kroeger built a parallel career as a hired songwriter, penning «Hero» for the Spider-Man soundtrack and collaborating with guitarist Carlos Santana on «Into The Night» and «Why Don't You & I». His lyrics move between anthemic party and rock-star excess and more personal themes of family, loss and relationships, a mix that made him one of the most commercially reliable rock writers of his generation.
In 2002 Kroeger co-founded the label 604 Records, helping launch acts such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Theory of a Deadman and Marianas Trench, extending his influence from performing into artist development. He was briefly married to Avril Lavigne, and has continued recording and touring with Nickelback into the following decades.
