About the artist
Casey (formerly known as Well Wisher) is a melodic hardcore band formed in South Wales, United Kingdom in 2014. The band's name pays tribute to the late Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert, situating the group within the emotional, post-hardcore-adjacent lineage that Hawthorne Heights and their contemporaries helped establish in the 2000s. Fronted by vocalist Tom Weaver alongside guitarist Liam Torrance, the group built its lineup around the shared musical vocabulary of UK melodic hardcore and emo.
Musically, Casey blend the aggression and dynamic breakdowns of hardcore with the melodic sensibility and raw emotional openness of emo, often addressing grief, mental health and personal loss with unusual directness. Songs such as «Ceremony», «Bruise» and «Hell» carry the heavier, more visceral side of the band, while tracks like «Little Bird», «Darling» and «Fluorescents» lean into the more melodic, introspective end of their sound.
The band announced a split in December 2018 following their final tour cycle, a common fate for bands in the UK hardcore scene, but reunited exactly four years later, in December 2022, to the surprise and enthusiasm of their fanbase. Their willingness to write unflinchingly about vulnerable subject matter has made them a respected name within the modern UK melodic hardcore and emo revival scene.
