Cake, stylized as CAKE, is an American alternative rock band from Sacramento, California, fronted by singer and songwriter John McCrea. Formed in the early 1990s, the band quickly developed a highly distinctive sound built around McCrea’s deadpan, near-monotone vocal delivery, prominent trumpet lines and vintage-influenced melodies drawing on 1950s and 1960s pop and country textures, all filtered through an alternative-rock sensibility.
