Cairokee - كايروكي

Cairokee is an Egyptian rock band formed in Cairo in 2003, led by singer and guitarist Amir Eid alongside Tamer Hashem, Sherif Hawary, Adam El-Alfy and Sherif Mostafa. The band spent its early years as a relatively niche act on Egypt's independent rock scene before finding a much wider audience during the 2011 Egyptian revolution.

During the uprising and the years that followed, Cairokee released a series of songs that became unofficial anthems of the moment, channeling the frustration, hope and demand for change felt by Egypt's youth. This period established the band as one of the most important voices of Arabic-language rock, giving them a cultural weight that went far beyond typical pop stardom.

Since then, Cairokee has broadened its scope, writing music that addresses everyday struggles, mental health and relationships alongside sharper, often sarcastic political commentary, all set against guitar-driven rock arrangements with strong pop sensibilities. Tracks like «Ya Abyad Ya Eswed» and «El Seka Shemal Fe Shemal» show the band's ability to move between introspective songwriting and biting social critique, cementing their place as one of the defining acts of modern Egyptian and Arab rock.
