BURNOUT SYNDROMES

BURNOUT SYNDROMES is a three-member Japanese alternative rock band formed in Osaka in 2005 by middle-school and elementary-school classmates. Vocalist and guitarist Kazuumi Kumagai, bassist Taiyu Ishikawa, and drummer Takuya Hirose built the group around anthemic, upbeat rock songwriting paired with earnest, sing-along lyrics, a style that would later make them a natural fit for anime theme songs.

After their 2014 indie debut and a 2016 signing to Epic Records, the band achieved wider recognition through tie-ins with major anime franchises, contributing opening and ending themes to series such as «Dr. Stone», with songs like «Fly High!!» and «ヒカリアレ (Hikari Are)» becoming fan favorites for their energetic hooks and motivational tone.

Musically, the trio blends melodic pop-punk-inflected rock with occasional electronic touches, favoring bright guitar riffs and driving rhythms that suit the triumphant, coming-of-age themes common in their anime-linked work. Their catalog, spanning both Japanese and bilingual versions of key singles, reflects a band that has steadily built a following at the intersection of rock music and anime culture.
