Brian Eno

Brian Eno, born in Woodbridge, Suffolk, England on 15 May 1948, is one of the most influential figures in modern music, a self-described non-musician whose ideas reshaped rock, electronic, and ambient sound. He began as a synthesizer player and sonic provocateur in the glam-rock band Roxy Music before departing in 1973 to pursue a prolific solo and collaborative path. His early solo albums, including «Here Come the Warm Jets», fused art-rock songwriting with experimental studio technique.

Eno is widely credited with coining the term ambient music, developing a body of work built on texture, space, and generative process rather than conventional song structure. That thinking led him toward interactive and generative software, treating composition as a system that could unfold on its own. His restless curiosity also made him one of the most sought-after producers of his era.

As a producer and collaborator, Eno shaped landmark records with Talking Heads, David Bowie, U2, and Coldplay, while also working with figures as varied as Robert Fripp and Luciano Pavarotti. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 as a member of Roxy Music and received a Stephen Hawking Award the same year for popularizing science.
