Breaking Benjamin

Breaking Benjamin is an American rock band formed in 1999 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, led by singer and guitarist Ben Burnley, who has remained the band's sole constant member through numerous lineup changes. Emerging from the post-grunge and alternative metal scene of the early 2000s, the group built a sound defined by heavy, layered guitars, melodic vocal hooks, and moody, atmospheric production, placing them alongside acts such as Chevelle and Three Days Grace on American rock radio.

The band's commercial breakthrough came with the 2004 album «We Are Not Alone», which went platinum and featured writing contributions from Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. The follow-up, «Phobia» (2006), consolidated their mainstream rock radio dominance with the hit single «The Diary of Jane», one of the most successful rock singles of its era. Later albums such as «Dear Agony» and «Dark Before Dawn» continued to chart highly, cementing the band's reputation for anthemic, emotionally intense rock.

After a hiatus in the early 2010s tied to internal disputes and Burnley's health issues, Breaking Benjamin returned with a rebuilt lineup and continued releasing new material, remaining a staple of hard rock radio and festival lineups. Songs like «Breath», «So Cold», and «Ashes of Eden» remain fan favorites, and the band is often cited as one of the defining acts of 2000s post-grunge rock.
