Браво (Bravo) (Band)

Bravo (Браво) is a Soviet and later Russian rock band formed in Moscow in 1983, one of the most influential acts to emerge from the Soviet rock underground during perestroika. From the start the group was built around guitarist and songwriter Evgeny Khavtan, its constant creative anchor, while the early lineup famously featured a young vocalist named Zhanna Aguzarova, whose distinctive voice and stage presence helped define the band's original sound before her departure.

Musically, Bravo drew on 1950s-60s rock-and-roll, twist and stilyagi-era aesthetics filtered through a distinctly Soviet lens, giving the band a retro, danceable energy that stood apart from the heavier and more politically charged rock of their contemporaries. Songs such as «Этот город», «Вася» and «Московский бит» became anthems of a generation discovering Western-style pop culture within a changing USSR. Bravo continued recording and performing for decades after their 1980s breakthrough, cycling through different vocalists over the years while Khavtan remained the band's producer and guiding force, cementing their status as one of the longest-running and most beloved groups in Russian rock history, with hits like «Любите, девушки», «Верю я» and «Дорога в облака» still staples of Russian radio.
