Bowling for Soup is an American pop-punk band formed in 1994 in Wichita Falls, Texas, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Jaret Reddick, guitarist Chris Burney, bassist Erik Chandler and drummer Gary Wiseman. The band's name derives from a comedy sketch, originally «Bowling for Shit», later softened to «Soup». Early on, the group drew inspiration from punk acts like The Ramones and Green Day before developing a more polished, hook-driven pop-punk sound.
Bowling for Soup found mainstream success in the early 2000s with albums such as Drunk Enough to Dance and A Hangover You Don't Deserve, both of which reached the Billboard Top 40, powered by singles like «Girl All the Bad Guys Want» and «1985», the latter becoming their best-known hit and a defining song of the era's pop-punk sound, built on wry, nostalgic humor and big, radio-ready choruses.
The band is also widely recognized for its work outside straightforward albums, most notably performing the theme song «Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day» for Disney's Phineas and Ferb, and making animated cameo appearances in the show. Combining self-deprecating humor with catchy, high-energy pop-punk, Bowling for Soup has remained a fixture of the genre and a favorite among fans of 2000s-era pop-punk and Warped Tour-adjacent acts.
