About the artist
Bon Jovi is an American rock band formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey, led by singer and namesake Jon Bon Jovi. Alongside longtime keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, and, for decades, guitarist and co-writer Richie Sambora, the band became one of the defining acts of 1980s arena and glam rock, crafting anthemic, radio-friendly songs built around big choruses and driving guitar hooks.
The band's breakthrough came with 1986's Slippery When Wet, which produced hits like «You Give Love a Bad Name» and «Livin' on a Prayer» and turned Bon Jovi into a global act. Follow-ups such as New Jersey and later Keep the Faith and Crush cemented a sound that bridged hard rock with pop and, eventually, country-tinged material, seen in songs like «Wanted Dead or Alive» and «It's My Life». The band has continued releasing music and touring for decades, adapting its lineup and sound while retaining its core arena-rock identity.
Bon Jovi's commercial success and the songwriting partnership between Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora earned the band induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the band remains among the best-known rock acts to emerge from the New Jersey scene, influencing subsequent generations of arena and pop-rock bands.
