About the artist
Bombay Bicycle Club are an English indie rock band from London, formed in the mid-2000s around songwriter and frontman Jack Steadman, alongside guitarist Jamie MacColl, bassist Ed Nash and drummer Suren de Saram. The band emerged from the same North London scene as several other indie acts of the era, first drawing attention through a national schools' band competition before signing to Island Records. Their early records leaned on jangly, math-rock-inflected guitar work, while later albums pushed toward folk-tinged acoustic textures, electronic production and dance-influenced rhythms, showing a restless willingness to change sound from record to record.
Across albums such as «I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose», «Flaws», «A Different Kind of Fix» and «So Long, See You Tomorrow», the band built a reputation for melodic, atmospheric songwriting anchored by Steadman's distinctive falsetto-leaning vocals. Songs like «Always Like This» and «Shuffle» became festival staples, and the band incorporated sampled vocals from international singers on «So Long, See You Tomorrow», reflecting Steadman's growing interest in global music and sampling.
After a hiatus in the mid-2010s during which members pursued side projects, Bombay Bicycle Club reunited and returned with new material including «Everything Else Has Gone Wrong» and later releases, continuing to draw on their signature blend of intricate guitar interplay and emotionally direct songwriting. They remain one of the more melodically inventive bands to emerge from the UK indie scene of the late 2000s.
