Blind Faith

Blind Faith were a short-lived British supergroup formed in 1969 out of the ashes of Cream and Traffic. Guitarist Eric Clapton, fresh off Cream's breakup, began jamming informally with Traffic's Steve Winwood, and the pairing quickly attracted Cream drummer Ginger Baker; bassist Ric Grech, from Family, completed the lineup, giving the band an instant pedigree few groups in rock history have matched.

The band released only one, self-titled album in 1969, blending blues-rock, soul-inflected pop and extended jamming in a way that reflected the individual strengths of its members — Winwood's soulful voice and keyboard work, Clapton's blues guitar, Baker's powerful, jazz-informed drumming, and Grech's melodic bass. Despite the group's brief existence and a single, brief tour, the album produced two enduring standards: «Can’t Find My Way Home», a delicate, acoustic-tinged ballad, and «Presence of the Lord», both of which remained staples of Clapton's and Winwood's later live sets for decades.

Blind Faith dissolved within months of forming, undone by the pressure of massive expectations and internal tensions, but its legacy as one of rock's original supergroups endures. The band's brief run is often cited as a landmark moment in the late-1960s British blues-rock scene, illustrating both the promise and the fragility of all-star lineups.
