Beast in Black

Beast in Black are a Finnish power metal band formed in Helsinki in 2015 by guitarist Anton Kabanen shortly after his departure from Battle Beast, where he had been the principal songwriter. Kabanen assembled a new five-piece lineup and set out to fuse the melodic songwriting of his earlier band with a heavier, synth-driven sound influenced by 1980s hard rock and video game and anime soundtracks. Vocalist Yannis Papadopoulos, whose powerful, high-register delivery became the band's signature, joined soon after formation.

The band's debut album «Berserker» was completed in late 2017 and led to a deal with Nuclear Blast Records, which released the record in 2018 to strong reception within the European power metal scene. Standout tracks such as «Blind and Frozen», «Beast in Black» and «Crazy, Mad, Insane» established the group's blend of anthemic choruses, synthesizer hooks and double-bass-driven riffing, drawing comparisons to acts like Battle Beast, Sabaton and Helloween while carving out a distinctly retro-futuristic identity.

Follow-up albums, including «From Hell with Love» and «Dark Connection», expanded on this formula, incorporating songs like «Ghost in the Rain», «Moonlight Rendezvous», «Born Again» and «Die by the Blade». Beast in Black have toured extensively across Europe and beyond, becoming one of the more prominent bands to emerge from the modern Finnish power metal wave.
