About the artist
Basement are an English rock band from Ipswich, formed in 2009 and built around vocalist Andrew Fisher, guitarists Alex Henery and Ronan Crix, bassist Duncan Stewart and drummer James Fisher. They emerged from the UK post-hardcore and emo revival scene of the early 2010s, pairing gritty, distorted guitar work with hooky, melodic vocal lines that owe as much to nineties alternative rock as to hardcore.
After signing to Run For Cover Records, the band released the EP Songs About The Weather and their debut album I Wish I Could Stay Here in 2011, followed by the heavier, more expansive Colourmeinkindness in 2012. Shortly after that album's release the band went on hiatus so members could pursue education and other careers, only to reunite in 2014, marking their return with the Further Sky EP.
Since reforming, Basement have released albums including Promise Everything and further work through Fueled by Ramen, songs such as «Covet», «Pine» and «Aquasun» showcasing their move toward a broader, more atmospheric alternative-rock sound while retaining the emotional intensity of their early records. They remain a touring staple of the UK and US alternative circuit.
