Badfinger

Badfinger were a Welsh rock band formed in Swansea in the 1960s, originally as the Iveys, who became closely associated with the Beatles after signing to Apple Records. The connection deepened when Paul McCartney wrote and produced their breakthrough single «Come and Get It», and the band's classic lineup — Pete Ham, Tom Evans, Joey Molland and Mike Gibbins — went on to craft some of the era's most enduring power-pop.

Badfinger's sound combined jangly, melodic guitars with strong vocal harmonies and a knack for hooks, placing them among the architects of the power-pop genre alongside contemporaries like the Raspberries. Pete Ham and Tom Evans wrote «Without You», later a massive hit for Harry Nilsson and one of the most covered ballads of its era, while the band's own recordings, including «No Matter What», «Day After Day» and «Baby Blue», remain staples of classic rock radio.

Despite this creative success, Badfinger's story was marked by business disputes and financial hardship that overshadowed the band's later years and contributed to personal tragedy for members of the group. Even so, their catalogue endures as some of the finest pop songwriting to come out of the Apple Records era.
