Bad Religion

Bad Religion is a pioneering American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1980. Frontman and vocalist Greg Graffin is the group's sole constant member, while guitarist and songwriter Brett Gurewitz, who also founded Epitaph Records, has been a defining creative force across most of the band's history. Over sixteen studio albums, the band forged a distinctive sound built on fast, aggressive punk riffs paired with intricate three-part vocal harmonies, often called «oozin' ahs» in their liner notes.

Lyrically, Bad Religion set itself apart through dense, literate songwriting that critiques religion, dogma, and political complacency, earning them a reputation as thesaurus rock among punk peers. Albums like «Suffer», «No Control», and «Stranger Than Fiction» are widely regarded as cornerstones of 1980s and 90s melodic hardcore punk, influencing countless bands in the pop-punk and skate-punk scenes that followed. Tracks such as «American Jesus», «Infected», and «21st Century (Digital Boy)» remain some of their most enduring songs.

Despite numerous lineup changes over four decades, including guitarists Brian Baker and Mike Dimkich joining later eras, Bad Religion has remained active and prolific, continuing to release new material such as «The Kids Are Alt-Right» while touring extensively. The band is widely considered one of punk rock's most influential and consistent institutions.
