Bad Company

Bad Company are an English hard rock band formed in 1973 by vocalist Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, both fresh off the breakup of Free, alongside guitarist Mick Ralphs of Mott the Hoople and bassist Boz Burrell, previously of King Crimson. The pedigree of its members made the band an instant supergroup, and it became the first act signed to Led Zeppelin's newly founded label, Swan Song Records, a launch that gave the group immediate visibility on the rock scene of the mid-1970s.

Musically, Bad Company distilled blues-rock into a lean, riff-driven sound built around Rodgers' powerful, soulful voice and Ralphs' economical guitar work, avoiding the excess of much contemporary hard rock in favor of direct, hook-heavy songwriting. Their self-titled debut album produced the title track «Bad Company» and became a defining record of the genre, while follow-ups yielded staples such as «Feel Like Makin' Love», «Can't Get Enough» and «Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy».

The band's classic lineup remained a touchstone of 1970s rock radio, and its catalogue has continued to influence blues-rock and classic rock acts long after their commercial peak. Rodgers went on to notable later work, including a stint fronting Queen, but Bad Company's original recordings remain the group's most enduring legacy.
