Athena

Athena is a Turkish rock band from Istanbul, blending rock with ska and reggae influences, and one of the most recognizable acts in Turkish rock music since the 1990s. The band built its reputation on high-energy live shows, brass-inflected arrangements, and lyrics that mix humor, social commentary, and everyday life in Turkey, making them a staple of Turkish rock and pop-culture events.

Athena gained wide recognition domestically with hits such as «Yalan» and «Kafama Göre», songs that showcase their signature fusion of driving rock guitars with ska-influenced horn sections and singalong choruses. The band also achieved international visibility by representing Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest, which introduced their sound to audiences beyond Turkey and beyond their established rock and ska fanbase.

The group's lineup has centered on brothers Hakan and Gökhan Özoğuz, with Gökhan on lead vocals and guitar and Hakan on guitar and backing vocals, alongside other longtime members handling bass, keyboards, and drums. Over the decades Athena has remained a fixture of the Turkish rock scene, known for its distinctive blend of genres and enduring popularity across generations of fans.
