Architects

Architects are a British metalcore band formed in Brighton, England in 2005. Over nearly two decades they have become one of the defining acts of modern British metalcore, blending crushing breakdowns and djent-inspired rhythms with progressive song structures, orchestral textures and increasingly melodic, anthemic choruses. Their lyrics tackle sociopolitical themes, environmental collapse, mental health and mortality with unusual directness for the genre.

The band's sound and identity were shaped for over a decade by guitarist and primary songwriter Tom Searle, whose death from cancer in 2016 became a turning point both personally and musically for the group. Rather than disbanding, Architects continued, channeling grief and reflection into albums such as «Holy Hell», which addressed Tom's death directly, and later records that pushed the band toward a bigger, more symphonic and radio-friendly sound while retaining their heavy roots.

Songs like «Doomsday», «Animals», «Royal Beggars» and «Dead Butterflies» showcase the band's ability to pair aggression with genuine emotional weight, while collaborations and guest features in later years brought them into contact with a wider rock and metal audience. Architects remain a touring and festival mainstay, respected for evolving their sound without abandoning the intensity that built their reputation.
