Angels & Airwaves

Angels & Airwaves is an American rock band formed in 2005 by Tom DeLonge during a hiatus from blink-182. Conceived by DeLonge as a multimedia art project rather than a conventional band, AVA paired expansive, atmospheric rock with themes of love, connection, and the cosmos, drawing on space-rock and post-punk influences alongside U2-style arena sweep. The lineup has shifted over the years, with David Kennedy and Ilan Rubin becoming key long-term collaborators alongside earlier members such as Ryan Sinn, Adam Willard, Matt Wachter, and Eddie Breckenridge.

The band built its identity around widescreen production, layered guitars, and DeLonge's soaring, reverb-heavy vocals, with songs like «The Adventure» and «Everything's Magic» becoming staples of mid-2000s alternative rock radio. Rather than sticking to a single sound, AVA expanded into companion films, comics, and multimedia releases, treating albums as parts of a larger narrative universe.

Even after blink-182 reunited in 2009, DeLonge kept Angels & Airwaves active, releasing further albums and touring independently of his other project. The band remains best known for bridging pop-punk sensibilities with more expansive, cinematic rock ambitions, giving DeLonge a separate creative outlet distinct from his blink-182 work.
