American Authors

American Authors are a pop-rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed by members who met at Berklee College of Music. Vocalist and guitarist Zac Barnett, lead guitarist James Adam Shelley, bassist Dave Rublin and drummer Matt Sanchez originally played together as The Blue Pages before renaming the project American Authors in 2012. Their breakthrough single «Believer» drew attention from alternative rock radio and eventually Mercury Records, while «Hit It» reached wider audiences through its placement in FIFA 14.

The band's debut studio album, Oh, What a Life, arrived in 2014 and was anchored by the anthemic single «Best Day of My Life», which became a defining crossover hit thanks to its use in commercials, films and sports broadcasts. Their sound blends folk-pop instrumentation with stadium-sized choruses, drawing comparisons to bands like Imagine Dragons and Fun.

American Authors followed up with What We Live For in 2016, featuring «I'm Born to Run», and released their third album, Seasons, in 2019 through Island Records. In 2020 they put out the EP Counting Down, which included a collaboration with Norwegian producer Seeb. Across their catalog, the band has remained known for uplifting, hook-driven songwriting aimed at festival and radio audiences.
