About the artist

Ambrosia is an American soft rock and progressive rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California, in the early 1970s. The group first drew wider attention when Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Zubin Mehta invited them to perform as part of an All-American Dream Concert, a rare crossover moment for a rock act that still had no record deal. It took several more years before Ambrosia signed to a label, releasing music built on intricate arrangements, jazz-influenced musicianship, and lush vocal harmonies that set them apart from more straightforward rock bands of the era.

Between the mid-1970s and early 1980s, Ambrosia became one of the period's steady hitmakers, landing songs such as «Biggest Part of Me» and «How Much I Feel» in the American top five, alongside charting singles like «You're the Only Woman (You and I)» and «Holdin' On to Yesterday». The band picked up multiple Grammy nominations during this run and toured alongside acts including Fleetwood Mac, Heart, and The Doobie Brothers.

Ambrosia disbanded in 1982 but reunited later in the decade and has continued touring and revisiting its catalog since. Earlier songs like «Nice, Nice, Very Nice» and «Drink of Water» show the more progressive, art-rock leaning side of their sound that predated their commercial peak, illustrating a band comfortable moving between ambitious studio craft and radio-friendly songwriting.
