Alter Bridge

Alter Bridge is an American rock band formed in Orlando, Florida in 2004, rising from the ashes of Creed. Guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips reunited after Creed's split and brought in vocalist and guitarist Myles Kennedy, previously of The Mayfield Four, giving the band a markedly different vocal identity built around Kennedy's soaring range and Tremonti's dense, riff-driven songwriting. The band's name references a bridge on Alter Road near Tremonti's childhood home in Detroit.

Alter Bridge quickly distinguished itself from Creed's post-grunge legacy by leaning into heavier, more progressive hard rock textures, layered guitar harmonies and dynamic shifts between melodic balladry and aggressive riffing. Tracks like «Metalingus», «Blackbird» and «Open Your Eyes» showcase this range, moving from anthemic hard rock to extended, guitar-solo-driven epics that earned Tremonti wide recognition among rock guitarists.

Over the years the band built a reputation as a dependable live and studio act, with songs such as «Watch Over You», «Broken Wings» and «Addicted to Pain» reflecting their mix of introspective lyricism and technical musicianship. Kennedy's parallel work as a touring vocalist for Slash, and Tremonti's own solo project, have kept Alter Bridge connected to a wider hard rock and metal community while the band has continued to record and tour steadily.
