About the artist
All Saints are an English girl group formed in London in 1993, initially built around Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis before sisters Natalie and Nicole Appleton joined to complete the classic lineup. Emerging alongside the Britpop and post-Spice Girls pop explosion of the late 1990s, the group distinguished itself with a cooler, more R&B-inflected sound than many of their peers, favouring understated harmonies and urban-pop production over pure bubblegum.
Their commercial peak came with singles such as «Never Ever», «Pure Shores» and «Black Coffee», tracks that blended melancholic songwriting with contemporary R&B and trip-hop textures, and which helped position them as a credible alternative to the era's more manufactured pop acts. «Pure Shores», written with William Orbit for the film The Beach, remains one of their signature moments and showcases the group's ethereal, atmospheric side.
After splitting in 2001, All Saints reunited multiple times over the following decades, releasing further albums and returning to touring and festival stages. Their legacy rests on a run of tightly crafted singles that helped define British pop and R&B crossover sound of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
