Alkaline Trio

Alkaline Trio is an American rock band formed in McHenry, Illinois, known for blending punk energy with dark, melodic songwriting. The band’s core lineup has long centered on Matt Skiba on guitar and vocals and Dan Andriano on bass and vocals, with drummers rotating over the years; their sound draws on pop-punk and gothic-tinged emo, marked by Skiba’s distinctive baritone and lyrics that lean into themes of heartbreak, mortality, and dark humor.

Emerging from the Chicago punk scene in the late 1990s, Alkaline Trio built a dedicated following through albums that balanced hook-driven choruses with brooding subject matter, helping define a strand of early-2000s punk that was more introspective and theatrical than their peers.
