Alexisonfire

Alexisonfire is a Canadian post-hardcore band from St. Catharines, Ontario, formed in 2001 from the remnants of three local bands. The lineup coalesced around dual vocalists George Pettit (harsh vocals) and Dallas Green (clean vocals, guitar), alongside guitarist Wade MacNeil, bassist Chris Steele and a drummer, giving the band its signature contrast between melodic singing and screamed delivery.

Their self-titled 2002 debut album became a foundational record for the Canadian post-hardcore and screamo scene, eventually certified Platinum in Canada, and songs like «.44 Caliber Love Letter» and «Pulmonary Archery» helped define the band’s sound — jagged, riff-driven guitar work paired with emotionally raw dual vocals. The follow-up, «Watch Out!» (2004), expanded their audience further, charting nationally and cementing their reputation as one of Canada’s most influential heavy bands of the 2000s.

Dallas Green’s parallel acoustic project City and Colour grew out of his work in Alexisonfire and became a major success in its own right, while the band continued to tour and release music with tracks such as «This Could Be Anywhere in the World», «Accidents» and «Boiled Frogs» remaining fan favorites. Alexisonfire is widely credited with helping bring post-hardcore and screamo into the Canadian mainstream.
