About the artist
Albert Hammond Jr. is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter, best known as a founding member and guitarist of The Strokes, the New York band that spearheaded the early-2000s garage rock revival with its debut album Is This It. Alongside his work with the band, he has built a parallel solo career marked by a more melodic, pop-inflected songwriting sensibility.
He launched his solo output with the 2006 album Yours to Keep, followed by further releases including the AHJ EP put out through Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas's Cult Records, and the 2015 album Momentary Masters via Vagrant Records. His solo work leans into jangly guitar hooks, warm vocal melodies, and a more personal, introspective tone than his output with The Strokes.
He is the son of singer-songwriter Albert Hammond, known for songs like «The Air That I Breathe» and «It Never Rains in Southern California», placing him in a rare lineage of father-and-son musicians who have each left a distinct mark on popular music.
