Against The Current

Against the Current is an American pop-rock band from Poughkeepsie, New York, formed in 2011 by singer Chrissy Costanza, guitarist Dan Gow and drummer Will Ferri. The trio first built an audience on YouTube through cover songs before shifting to original material with their «Infinity» EP. Their breakout single «Gravity» helped them sign with Fueled by Ramen in 2015.

Their debut full-length, «In Our Bones» (2016), pushed their sound toward polished, hook-driven pop-rock with anthemic choruses, a direction that continued on the follow-up «Past Lives» (2018), led by the singles «Almost Forgot» and «Strangers Again». Costanza's powerful vocal delivery has remained the band's defining feature throughout their evolution.

Against the Current occupy a space between the emo-pop scene that Fueled by Ramen helped popularize and a more mainstream electronic-tinged pop sound, appealing to a young fanbase built largely through social media and live touring.
