Neil Young é um cantor e compositor canadense cuja carreira remonta a meados da década de 1960, quando cofundou em Los Angeles a banda de folk-rock Buffalo Springfield ao lado de Stephen Stills e Richie Furay. Logo depois iniciou uma carreira solo prolífica, lançando seu álbum de estreia homônimo em 1968, seguido de uma série de discos marcantes que fundiam folk, country e rock pesado. Também foi membro fundamental do Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, trazendo sua voz de tenor característica e composições afiadas às harmonias vocais do grupo.
Young é conhecido por alternar constantemente entre a introspecção acústica delicada e o rock elétrico cru e distorcido, muitas vezes ao lado de sua banda de apoio de longa data, Crazy Horse.
