Sobre o artista
Marilyn Manson, nascido Brian Warner, é um músico americano e líder da banda que leva seu nome artístico, formado pela combinação de Marilyn Monroe e Charles Manson, como um comentário sobre a natureza fabricada da cultura das celebridades. Surgida da cena shock-rock da Flórida no final dos anos 1980, a banda construiu reputação por meio de imagens provocativas, shows ao vivo teatrais e letras que causaram pânico moral na mídia mainstream nos anos 1990.
O grande avanço veio com Antichrist Superstar (1996), seguido por Mechanical Animals (1998), que levou o som em direção a um rock industrial com influências glam. Manson se tornou uma das figuras mais reconhecíveis e controversas do rock, conhecido por faixas como «The Beautiful People», «The Dope Show» e «This Is the New Shit», além de seu cover de «Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)», que o apresentou a um público muito mais amplo.
Musicalmente, Marilyn Manson combina elementos industriais, de metal e glam rock com uma composição sombria e teatral que explora religião, identidade e a cultura americana.
