«Under the Sea» es el número estelar ganador de un Óscar de la película animada de Disney de 1989 La Sirenita, escrita por Alan Menken y Howard Ashman; esta versión es la interpretación de Daveed Diggs como el cangrejo Sebastián en el remake de acción real de 2023. En la trama, el sobreprotector Sebastián canta este tema con sabor a calipso para convencer a la sirena Ariel de que su reino submarino es mucho mejor que el peligroso mundo humano de arriba, enumerando las penurias de los habitantes de tierra frente a la vida despreocupada y musical de las criaturas marinas. La canción es famosa por sus ingeniosos juegos de palabras que emparejan especies de peces con instrumentos (el tritón con la flauta, la carpa con el arpa) y por su arreglo caribeño de tambores de acero y big band, reflejo del gusto de Ashman y Menken por el calipso trinitense y el jazz al estilo de Cab Calloway. Ganó el Óscar a la Mejor Canción Original en 1990 y sigue siendo uno de los números musicales más queridos de Disney, adaptado más tarde a Broadway y aquí reimaginado con Diggs (famoso por Hamilton) aportando su propio estilo con influencia del rap a la interpretación de Sebastián.
