A lo largo de las estrofas insiste repetidamente en que no es una copia de ninguno de los grandes nombres de la época —Tupac, Jay-Z, Biggie, Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Drake, y figuras del Área de la Bahía como 40 Water y Keak da Sneak—, mientras admite que la constante comparación con «otros» raperos quizá solo signifique que es otro que la fama. Ancla su identidad en Oakland y el Área de la Bahía (mencionando el BART, el sonido cargado de bajos de la región), su comunidad y sus alumnos, y referencias literarias (Toni Morrison y su novela Sula) que muestran tanto su profundidad intelectual como su autenticidad callejera.
