Sobre el artista
Tears for Fears es un dúo inglés de pop y rock formado en Bath en 1981 por Roland Orzabal y Curt Smith, amigos de infancia que antes habían tocado juntos en la banda Graduate. Tomaron su nombre de un concepto de la terapia primal y construyeron un sonido inicial basado en sintetizadores, cajas de ritmos y letras introspectivas y a menudo políticas, alcanzando notoriedad en 1982 con «Mad World» y el álbum debut The Hurting (1983).
Su gran éxito internacional llegó con Songs from the Big Chair (1985), que orientó su sonido hacia un pop-rock más grandilocuente y produjo los himnos «Shout» y «Everybody Wants to Rule the World». El siguiente disco, The Seeds of Love (1989), se acercó a una psicodelia de inspiración beatle con una producción lujosa y llegó al número uno en el Reino Unido antes de que el dúo se separara en 1991, momento en que Orzabal continuó bajo el nombre de la banda mientras Smith desarrollaba carrera en solitario.
Orzabal y Smith se reunieron en los años 2000, publicando Everybody Loves a Happy Ending (2004) y más tarde The Tipping Point (2022).
