Sobre el artista
Oasis se formó en Manchester, Inglaterra, en 1991, liderado por las composiciones de Noel Gallagher y la voz de su hermano Liam Gallagher. La banda se convirtió en uno de los actos definitorios del movimiento Britpop, combinando rock de guitarras himnico con ganchos melódicos inspirados en bandas como los Beatles y los Rolling Stones, todo con una actitud desafiante.
Su debut de 1994, Definitely Maybe, irrumpió en las listas británicas, seguido en 1995 por (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, que produjo éxitos perdurables como «Wonderwall» y «Don't Look Back in Anger» y convirtió a la banda en estrellas globales. Su rivalidad con Blur se volvió emblemática de la era Britpop, generando enorme atención mediática en torno a una batalla de sencillos que Oasis terminó eclipsando con su éxito mundial.
Álbumes posteriores, como Be Here Now y Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, tuvieron una recepción crítica más dispar en medio de tensiones bien documentadas entre los hermanos Gallagher, aunque la banda mantuvo una enorme base de seguidores en directo.
