YOASOBI

YOASOBI is a Japanese pop duo formed in 2019, consisting of composer and vocaloid producer Ayase and vocalist ikura. The project was born from a distinctive creative premise: the duo was approached by the Japanese storytelling platform Monogatary.com to turn original short stories submitted by users into songs, giving their music a strong narrative, literary foundation from the outset.

Their debut single, «夜に駆ける (Yoru ni Kakeru)», released in December 2019, became a massive breakout hit, topping the Japanese Billboard charts for multiple consecutive weeks in 2020 and establishing YOASOBI as one of the defining acts of Japan's streaming-era pop scene. The duo's sound blends elements of pop, electronic production, and rock energy, often built around Ayase's intricate, vocaloid-influenced composition style paired with ikura's emotive vocal delivery.

YOASOBI's debut album, THE BOOK, released in January 2021, continued the story-to-song format and further cemented their popularity. The group later achieved global crossover success with «Idol», the theme song for the anime Oshi no Ko, and its English-language version, which brought international attention to their work alongside continued hits like «怪物 (Monster)» and «群青 (Gunjou)».
