He began as a college DJ and producer in the early 2000s, gaining early recognition for the party track «Glassy», before shifting to producing and rapping in Punjabi and Hindi rather than English, a choice that helped popularize hip-hop in Indian regional languages.

His breakthrough came with the 2011 album International Villager, which spawned viral hits like «Gabru» and «Brown Rang», the latter charting on the BBC Asian Chart and becoming one of the most-watched Indian music videos of its time. Singh subsequently crossed into Bollywood playback singing, delivering chart-topping tracks for films such as Cocktail, and by 2012 had become one of the industry’s highest-paid artists, known for blending club-ready beats with Punjabi folk cadences and brash, provocative lyricism.
