Woodkid

Woodkid is the musical alias of Yoann Lemoine, a French artist, film director and graphic designer known for cinematic neofolk and orchestral pop that fuses sweeping strings, martial drums and haunting vocals. Before establishing himself as a musician, Lemoine built an acclaimed career directing music videos for major international pop stars, bringing a strong visual and narrative sensibility that carries through into his own releases.

His debut album, The Golden Age, released in 2013, established his signature sound built around imagery of empires, war and childhood, wrapped in grandiose orchestration reminiscent of film scores. Singles like «Iron» and «Run Boy Run» became widely recognized for their epic, marching arrangements and striking self-directed videos, blurring the line between music video and short film.

Woodkid's work is often described as sitting at the crossroads of pop, classical and cinematic music, and his releases are typically conceived as multimedia projects combining sound, visuals and narrative themes of memory, mortality and transformation. He has continued to release music at a deliberate pace, most notably the album S16, further developing his orchestral, emotionally charged sound.
