WALK THE MOON

Walk the Moon is an American rock band formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2006 by frontman Nicholas Petricca, who named the group after The Police's song «Walking on the Moon». Blending indie rock with synth-pop and new wave textures, the band built a reputation for high-energy, brightly costumed live shows before breaking through commercially with the anthemic single «Anna Sun».

The group's biggest crossover moment came with «Shut Up and Dance», an infectious, guitar-and-synth-driven hit that became a global radio staple and one of the defining pop-rock songs of its era. Their catalog also includes tracks like «One Foot», «Work This Body», and «Kamikaze», showcasing a sound that moves between danceable pop hooks and more introspective rock songwriting.

The band's lineup has centered on Petricca (lead vocals, keys), along with Sean Waugaman (percussion) and Eli Maiman (guitar); bassist Kevin Ray was part of the group for years before departing in 2020. Walk the Moon has released multiple studio albums and a live record, remaining a touring act known for communal, celebratory concert experiences.
