Urbandub

Urbandub is a rock band from Cebu City, Philippines, formed in 2000 around vocalist Gabby Alipe, guitarist John Dinopol, bassist Lalay Lim and drummer JanJan Mendoza. The band's name originated from early plans to play reggae and dub-influenced music, though the group's sound shifted substantially through lineup changes and evolving influences, eventually settling into a heavier alternative and post-hardcore-leaning rock style while keeping the original name.

Urbandub became one of the defining acts of the Philippine rock scene in the 2000s, known for anthemic, emotionally charged songs such as «Fight Is Over», «Evidence» and «Guillotine», which combined melodic hooks with driving guitar work and Alipe's distinctive vocal delivery. Tracks like «A Call to Arms» and «Soul Searching» showcased the band's range between introspective, atmospheric passages and more aggressive, riff-driven sections, helping distinguish them from many of their contemporaries in the local rock circuit.

Over a career spanning multiple albums, Urbandub built a reputation as one of Cebu's most prominent musical exports, contributing to the growth of the Visayan rock scene and gaining a following across the Philippines through consistent touring and a catalog that balanced radio-friendly rock with more experimental, layered arrangements.
