Up Dharma Down

UDD, formerly known as Up Dharma Down, is a Filipino indie rock band formed in Manila in 2004. The group is composed of Armi Millare on lead vocals and keys, Carlos Tañada on lead guitar, Ean Mayor on drums and Paul Yap on bass, and the band officially shortened its name to its initials, UDD, on January 1, 2017. They are widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in the modern Filipino independent music scene.

Released under the independent label Terno Recordings, their studio albums Fragmented, Bipolar, Capacities and UDD showcase a restless evolution across dream pop, jazz-tinged rock and electronic textures, anchored by Millare's distinctive, emotive voice. Songs like «Tadhana», «Oo» and «Sana» became generational touchstones in the Philippines, blending intricate musicianship with introspective, often melancholic songwriting.

The band's willingness to experiment with structure and instrumentation, moving from the guitar-driven melancholy of their early work toward more electronic and atmospheric arrangements in later releases, has made them a reference point for OPM (original Pilipino music) artists who followed. Tracks such as «Unti-Unti» and «Indak» further illustrate their range, cementing UDD's reputation as pioneers who helped bring indie sensibilities into the Filipino mainstream.
