TV Girl is an American band formed in San Diego, California in 2010, later associated with Los Angeles, built around the core of Brad Petering and Jason Wyman. Taking their name and initial inspiration from a Beat Happening song, the group developed a signature sound built on sample-heavy, lo-fi pop production layered with deadpan, conversational vocals that explore sex, heartbreak, isolation, and self-image with a wry, often uncomfortably candid tone.

The band's early mixtapes and their debut album «French Exit» found an audience largely through the internet, with tracks like «Cigarettes out the Window» and «Lovers Rock» becoming streaming-era favorites long after their initial release, helped by their loose, sample-based bedroom-pop aesthetic that borrows freely from soul, disco, and vintage pop sources.
