TobyMac

TobyMac, born Toby McKeehan, is an American singer, rapper and producer widely regarded as a pioneering figure in Christian hip-hop. He first gained recognition in the late 1980s and 1990s as a member of the rap-rock trio dc Talk alongside Michael Tait and Kevin Max, a group credited with bringing hip-hop and rock energy into contemporary Christian music.

Following dc Talk’s hiatus, McKeehan launched a prolific solo career under the name tobyMac, blending pop, rap, rock and electronic elements into an upbeat, hook-driven sound. Songs such as «Everything», «Move (Keep Walkin’)», «21 Years» and «I just need U.» showcase his knack for pairing danceable production with personal and faith-centered songwriting. He has released multiple studio, remix, live and Christmas albums, along with a notable collaborative record.

Beyond performing, McKeehan founded Gotee Records in 1994, using the label to develop and produce artists such as Finding Favour, Ryan Stevenson, Hollyn and Aaron Cole, extending his influence well beyond his own discography. His combination of chart-friendly production and outspoken faith has made him one of Christian music’s most commercially successful and enduring artists across both his group and solo work.
