About the artist
Tiësto, born Tijs Michiel Verwest, is a Dutch DJ, producer and musician widely regarded as one of the founding figures of modern electronic dance music. Adopting the stage name Tiësto in 1994, he rose out of the trance scene of the late 1990s and early 2000s to become one of the most consistently influential and successful DJs in the world, later evolving his sound toward big-room and mainstream EDM, and eventually into pop-leaning dance-pop production.
He made history in 2004 as the first DJ ever to perform at an Olympic Games opening ceremony, and has headlined virtually every major festival stage, from Coachella and Ultra to Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival, alongside a long-running residency at Hakkasan in Las Vegas. Over three decades he has repeatedly reinvented his sound while retaining his reputation for reading and moving a crowd, earning him titles like Mixmag's Greatest DJ of All Time and Billboard's Godfather of EDM, as well as Grammy recognition.
In his more recent pop-crossover era, Tiësto has delivered hits such as «The Business», «The Motto», «Jackie Chan» and «Boom», working with a wide range of vocalists and rappers to keep his sound current across radio, streaming and the club. His career-long ability to move between trance purism and chart-ready dance-pop has made him a defining name across multiple generations of electronic music.
