About the artist
The Kelly Family is a multi-generational, multicultural family band founded by Dan «Papa» Kelly and his wife Barbara-Ann «Mama» Kelly, whose children — John, Patricia, Jimmy, Joey, Barby, Paddy, Maite and Angelo, along with Dan's children from his first marriage, Caroline, Kathy and Paul — formed the core of the group. The family began performing together and busking across Europe before achieving massive popularity, particularly in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands during the 1990s with a folk-pop and soft rock sound built around close vocal harmonies.
Their best-known songs, including «An Angel», «Fell In Love With An Alien», «Why Why Why» and «I Can't Help Myself», became major European hits and turned the band into one of the most recognizable pop acts of the decade. Barbara-Ann Kelly died in 1982, leaving her children a simple guiding message to keep on singing, which the family carried forward through years of touring and recording.
After a long hiatus, several members — John, Patricia, Kathy, Jimmy, Joey and Angelo — reunited for touring in 2017, and with the involvement of their brother Paul released the album «Over The Hump» in 2019, bringing the Kelly Family back to stages and to a new generation of listeners.
