The Hatters

The Hatters are a Russian folk-rock band formed in Moscow in 2015, known for blending gypsy and Balkan-influenced folk instrumentation with rock energy and rap-inflected vocal delivery. The band itself has described its sound as a mix of Russian and Gypsy street music with a hardcore, alcohol-fueled edge, built around violin, accordion, and trombone lines layered over a driving rhythm section. This unusual instrumental palette sets them apart from most Russian rock acts of their generation.

The group built a following through energetic live shows and a string of independent releases, including the albums «Полная шляпа» and «Forever Young, Forever Drunk», both from 2017, followed later by «По ходу люблю» in 2023. Songs such as «Зима» and «Наружу изнутри» became fan favorites and helped establish their reputation as a festival and club act with a distinctive folk-punk identity.

Beyond their studio work, The Hatters gained wider recognition through soundtrack contributions, including «Город поёт» for the film «Пророк. История Александра Пушкина», which introduced their sound to a broader audience. Their catalog continues to expand with singles and live recordings that showcase the band's raw, celebratory performance style.
