THE DRIVER ERA

The Driver Era is an American rock duo formed by brothers Ross Lynch and Rocky Lynch, who previously performed together in the pop-rock band R5. Launched in 2018 with the single «Preacher Man», the project marked a deliberate shift away from their earlier teen-pop sound toward a more mature blend of rock, pop, and electronic textures, drawing on influences from classic rock songwriting to contemporary dance-pop production.

Their debut album X, released in 2019, established the duo's melodic sensibility and DIY approach, with Rocky handling much of the writing and production. The band built momentum through a steady stream of singles across 2019–2021, eventually compiled into the two-part album Girlfriend, anchored by their breakout hit «A Kiss», which brought the group its widest mainstream attention.

The Driver Era continued expanding their sound with Summer Mixtape in 2022, incorporating brighter, more dance-oriented production, before returning to a moodier, guitar-driven approach on their fourth album, Obsession, released in 2025, followed shortly after by a deluxe edition. Across their catalog the brothers have maintained close creative control, positioning the project as a more personal and experimental outlet than their earlier band work.
