The Andrews Sisters

The Andrews Sisters were an American close-harmony vocal trio consisting of siblings LaVerne, Maxene, and Patty Andrews, active from the 1930s through the 1960s. They became one of the defining vocal groups of the swing and boogie-woogie eras, celebrated for their tight three-part harmonies and energetic delivery.

Their breakthrough came with hits like «Bei Mir Bist Du Schön (Means That You're Grand)», and they went on to record enduring classics such as «Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy», «Rum and Coca-Cola», and «Chattanooga Choo Choo». Their sound blended pop, jazz-inflected swing, and elements that anticipated rhythm and blues, and they frequently collaborated with big-band artists and other stars of the era, including Bing Crosby.

The trio's records sold in vast numbers over their career, and their music became closely associated with the World War II home front, performing for troops and boosting morale through USO tours. Their influence persists in vocal harmony traditions across pop and jazz music.
